Medicaid Covered Doula Services
Did you know that Michigan Medicaid covers doulas?
The Michigan Medicaid Doula Initiative began in January 2023 and covers 12 visits with a doula during pregnancy and up to 12 months postpartum,
plus birth attendance in a hospital.
You get the prenatal, birth, and postpartum support you need, and your Medicaid Health Plan pays for it.

Already had your baby?
Postpartum care is still available for you!
Medicaid covers up to 12 postpartum visits for up to 12 months after the birth of the baby.
As a doula, I specialize in helping families transition to life with a new baby no matter when I join their journey.
Whether it’s additional emotional and informational support as you adjust to life with the new baby, lactation support, or taking care of baby so that you can eat, shower, and sleep - Postpartum visits are typically 2-3 hours and tailored to your needs and wishes.
Postpartum services are available to families living within 30 minutes of Redford Charter Township. My availability is typically Monday-Thursday 10am-2pm, Saturday 11am-4pm, and Sunday 10am-3pm. Exceptions may be made in special circumstances as my schedule allows.
Some of the postpartum services that I perform include:
Nursery design and set-up
Postpartum care can include general assistance with infant care so the birthing parent can nap, shower or get some fresh air
Help with self-care and recovery (sitz baths, assistance moving to bathroom and back) and comfort measures
Parenting information and infant care assistance and demonstration (learning to bathe, feed and bond with your baby, recognizing hunger cues, etc)
Assistance with breastfeeding/chestfeeding/alternative milk feeding, positions, latch, pumping, and referral to a lactation consultant if needed
General companionship and processing of your experiences during birth, with bonding and adjusting to parenting your newborn
Light cleaning (washing baby bottles, sweeping, tidying, washing and folding baby laundry)
Organization (creating and stocking nesting/feeding locations, etc)
